Joy Elizabeth
has lived in Australia all of her life.
* Born in Brisbane, Qld, in 1969
of middle class blue collar workers Norman & Rita
* Has 4 siblings - Shane
(whom she grew up with and adored),
Leanne & Scott (half-siblings from Rita's first marriage -
not very well known to her),
& Trevor (half-brother from Rita's first relationship, not
known of until 1987)
* Norman & Rita began a journey to
live in
Perth, WA, traveling via the coastline
* Lived 15 years in Newcastle,
NSW, never reaching Perth
* Moved to Byron Bay, NSW in 1985
to live with her Aunt, Win,
2 cousins Russell & Steven, and her maternal Grandmother
and "Uncle Frank" (nanna's second husband)
* Finished Year 12 in 1988 and
moved to Brisbane, Qld
to study at Sarina Russo's Business College
* Worked in Brisbane, Qld
for 2 years before moving to
Mildura, Vic, where she married David and gave birth to
Carli in 1991
* David, Joy & Carli travelled
around SE Qld in a bus for 2 years
before settling down at Laidley, Qld.
* The family moved to Corindi
Beach, NSW, David's home ground,
where Jennifer was born in 1995
* David's work brought the family
back to Brisbane, Qld
where Colleen was born in 1996
* An accident during Colleen's
birth rendered Joy all but a vegetable,
with the medical establishment giving her little hope of
recovery
* Joy's family was reunited with
Trevor and his family in 1997
(Rita adopted him out at birth and his existence was not
general knowledge until 1987)
* In 1998 a complete breakdown
forced Joy to make life-altering decisions
"Get well or Die" - she left the family unit to get well.
It worked, though Joy & David divorced in 2000 and it was
mutually decided
that it was in the children's best interests to stay with
their Dad until
they were old enough to decide for themselves where they
wanted to live
* Joy lived in Port Macquarie,
NSW from 1998 until 2001
rehabilitating, maintaining relationships with her girls and
writing music.
Trevor moved in to support her.
* Trevor & Joy travelled to Hawaii
for rehabilitation services
* Trevor & Joy moved to the Gold
Coast, Qld in 2001
to be closer to her girls for they had moved to Bundaberg,
Qld.
Trevor & Joy set up a counselling service and worked from
home
* In 2004 Carli came to live with
Joy
* In 2006 Jennifer & Colleen
moved in too
* 2006 saw Joy developing her
music in earnest
and starting to take her music career seriously
* The development of Joy's
music was put on hold in 2007
until certain personal issues were taken care of
* 2008 sees Joy
stepping back up to her music
readying her new version of her album "From the Heart"
for immediate download off the web
